Dutchess County Couple Arrested Following Home Invasion
A couple from Dutchess County are facing burglary charges after an alleged home invasion and beating.
On Monday evening, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Christiansen Lane in Dover for a 911 report of a burglary and assault in progress.
The suspects fled the scene before police arrival. However authorities were able to get a description of the suspect's car. A vehicle matching the description was stopped near the scene.
Police were told a man and a woman broke into a home and beat a victim.
A further investigation led to the arrest of 38-year-old Justino Reyes and 21-year-old Kayla Brooks, both from Poughkeepsie, for burglary, a felony.
The victim suffered a minor injury. The couple’s motive is still under investigation, but the home invasion is not believed to be random, police say.
Both were arraigned in Town of Dover Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail. Reyes was set to jail with no bail, Brooks on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
The investigation is continuing, more charges are possible at a later time, officials say.
