Carmel Man Accused of Selling Heroin
Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. has announced the arrest of 22-year-old Carmel resident Carlos Priego on felony narcotics and possession charges.
According to Langley, an undercover deputy assigned to the Narcotics Enforcement Unit obtained information in September of 2017 that Priego was selling heroin and prescription drugs throughout Putnam County. During the course of the investigation, the deputy was able to purchase heroin and suboxone from Priego on four separate occasions, according to the press release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. On Feb. 15, deputies performed a traffic stop on Priego's car, determined that he was in possession of heroin, and placed him under arrest.
Priego was arraigned in the Town of Carmel Court on two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd Degree, two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the 3rd Degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th Degree, two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the 5th Degree and several misdemeanors.
Priego was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on a $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
