It's time for the kids to go back to school. Here are the school districts in the Hudson Valley that are considered the safest.

Every year, Niche.com ranks the safest school district in the country, using data that includes suspensions, expulsions, absences and school-related arrests.

NYUP then looked into the Niche.com data to rank the "50 safest school districts in Upstate New York for 2020." The website considers anything above Rockland County as "Upstate New York."

Below are the school districts from the Hudson Valley that made the list.

#43 Rhinebeck Central School District, Dutchess County

  • Student/teacher ratio: 11:1
  • In-school suspensions: 0 (0%)
  • Out-of-school suspensions: 21 (1.9%)

#35 Spackenkill Union Free School District, Dutchess County

  • Safety grade: A+
  • Overall grade: A+
  • Students: 1,426
  • Student/teacher ratio: 10:1
  • In-school suspensions: 48 (3.3%)
  • Out-of-school suspensions: 27 (1.9%)

#23 Haldane Central School District, Putnam County

  • Safety grade: A+
  • Overall grade: A
  • Students: 827
  • Student/teacher ratio: 15:1
  • In-school suspensions: 7 (0.8%)
  • Out-of-school suspensions: 6 (0.7%)

No school districts from Orange, Ulster or Sullivan counties made the list.
