A Hudson Valley man is accused of stealing nearly $7,000 in unemployment benefits.

On Saturday, New York State Police from the Rhinebeck barracks arrested 30-year-old Michael Williams of Germantown for falsifying business records, a felony.

Williams collected unemployment insurance benefits in the amount of $6,682.50 from the New York State Department of Labor while gainfully employed, police say.

Williams was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Hyde Park Justice Court in November.
