Two Dutchess County men have been charged in Tuesday's hotel shooting in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

On Tuesday, Town of Poughkeepsie Police responded to a shooting that took place at the Poughkeepsie Inn on South Road.

The victim was shot in the leg and transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Two suspects were detained after a brief area search. Both were subsequently charged with five counts of robbery in the first degree, all felonies.

The initial investigation revealed that the defendants were known to the victim and witnesses, and the shooting was not an act of random violence.

Akbar McClennon, 31, and Jarrin Mayes, 28 both of Millerton were arraigned and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail, or $500,000 bond. Both men are scheduled to return to court this week.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact the Town of Poughkeepsie Detective Division at (845) 485-3670.
