It was another busy weekend for Troop K of the New York State Police as they took 17 cars off the road for a wide range of infractions impairing the drivers throughout Dutchess, Putnam, and Westchester counties.

The drivers face a variety of charges including driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired by drugs, among others between Dec. 9 and Dec. 11.

Among those charged were:

Matthew Cann, 34, of Patterson was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law after a traffic stop on Dec. 10. Cann was stopped on Interstate 84 by troopers from the Stormville barracks for speeding when he was found to be intoxicated. His 8-year-old daughter was a passenger in the car at the time of the stop. After a breath sample provided blood alcohol level of .12  Cann was issued traffic tickets and ordered to appear in Town of Kent Court on Dec. 21.

Michael B. Walsh, 51, of Dover Plains was charged with first degree driving while intoxicated and first degree aggravated unlicensed operation. Walsh was stopped by troopers from Poughkeepsie  on Route 44 for failure to maintain his lane. He was found to be intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .12. Walsh was also driving with a revoked license from an earlier arrest for driving while intoxicated. He was ordered to appear in Town of Washington Court on Dec. 20.

Michael E. Wright, 25, of Pleasant Valley was charged with driving while impaired by drugs and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled dangers substance. Walsh was stopped by troopers from Poughkeepsie on Dec. 10. on Degarmo Road for vehicle and traffic violations. Troopers determined Wright was impaired by drugs and he was also charged with possessing heroin. He was ordered to appear in Town of LaGrange Court before being taken to State Police Barracks Newburgh on an arrest warrant from Town of Newburgh Court.

Miguel A. Guaman, 43, of Woodside was charged on Dec. 11 with driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law. Troopers from the Cortlandt barracks stopped Guaman on the Bear Mountain Parkway when he did not dim his headlights for oncoming traffic. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of .09 while Guaman had two passengers under the age of 16 in the car. He was arraigned in the Town of Cortlandt Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5000 cash bail or bond.
