SP: New York Lyft Driver Plays Porn Near Child, Sexually Assaults 1 in Hudson Valley
A Hudson Valley Lyft driver is accused of playing porn near a child and sexually assaulting one person.
On Friday, New York State Police arrested 27-year-old Manuel A. Nunez of Mount Vernon for sexual abuse in the 1st degree, a class D felony, unlawful imprisonment in the 1st degree, a class E felony, criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, menacing in the 2nd degree and endangering the welfare of a child, all class A misdemeanors.
On Thursday, Troopers received a complaint of a Lyft driver sexually assaulting the caller at knifepoint.
The investigation determined Nunez working as a Lyft driver picked up a party of four people for a scheduled transport, officials say.
Authorities were told Nunez began displaying pornographic material on his cell phone in view of a child under the age of 17 while driving the group.
Nunez then threatened the party with a knife and sexually assaulted one of the victims, police say.
Nunez was arraigned before the Greenburgh Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 secure bond, or $150,000 partially secure bond.
He is next scheduled to appear before the court on December 17, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.
