A standoff with a City of Poughkeepsie man previously charged with selling heroin ended peacefully Thursday afternoon.

New York State Police were attempting to serve felony warrants on Jaquon Dancy Thursday afternoon when he barricaded himself inside his residence at Gray Street in Poughkeepsie.

Dancy was sought by police in April of 2016 on an outstanding warrant for heroin distribution. It was not immediately clear if the warrants being served on Thursday were in connection to those charges.

State Police requested the assistance of the City of Poughkeepsie Emergency Services Unit (ESU) at the scene while they attempted to secure a search warrant, according to City of Poughkeepsie Capt. Rich Wilson.

After several attempts to encourage the perp to exit were unsuccessful, the tactical ESU officers entered the residence with the search warrant, located Dancy and brought him out to an awaiting State Police cruiser shortly after 5PM, according to Wilson.

Dancey was transported to the NYSP barracks in LaGrange. Police were assisted at the scene by medics from Mobile Life as a precaution.
