Police: Galleria Gunman Was With 2 Small Children, Woman
Police are hoping for help in finding the man who opened fire at the Galleria at Crystal Run. Police say he was walking with a woman and two small children.
On Sunday around 3:15 p.m., police responded to the Galleria at Crystal Run for reports of shots fired, resulting in the evacuation of the mall.
Arriving officers found a 49-year-old mother from Goshen and her 12-year-old son suffering from minor leg wounds. It’s believed the two were hit with bullet fragments or shattered glass, police say. They were treated and released from Orange Regional Medical Center.
Police described the gunman as being 6’2” white or Hispanic with dark hair, a dark beard and a mustache. He was seen wearing a dark jacket and gray pants.
He discharged one round from a handgun, into the floor in front of American Eagle, police say.
Officials say the man left the mall in the company of a white or Hispanic woman with blonde hair and two small children, an infant and a child around the age of three. The woman was around 5’4” wearing maroon pants and a dark jacket.
They left the mall from a second floor exit near Macy’s and Fuji Steakhouse.
Police haven’t released surveillance video because authorities feel it won’t help in identifying the man and woman.
Anyone with information or video or photos capturing the incident is asked to contact Town of Wallkill Police Department Detectives at (845) 692-6757.
Police haven’t determined if the shot was fired on purpose or by accident.
