The crime happened on three separate occasions.

According to Town of Ulster Police Department Facebook page, Judith E. Bell, 49, from Saugerties has been arrested following an investigation into the theft of multiple pocketbooks from customer’s shopping carts inside the Walmart Superstore, in the Town of Ulster.

Police said that they received three separate complaints from customer’s at Walmart that reported that their pocketbooks had been stolen from their shopping carts as their attention was diverted. As a result of an investigation, Bell was found to have removed three pocketbooks on three separate occasions from customer’s carts while they were shopping.

Bell was arrested and charged with 5 felony counts of grand larceny and 3 misdemeanor counts of petty larceny.

She was arraigned in the Town of Ulster Justice Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1500.00 cash bail or a $2000.00 property bond.

Bell is scheduled to be back in the Town of Ulster Justice Court at a later date.
