How would you react if a pizza showed up at your house looking like the one that was delivered to a birthday party in Ulster County?

A routine pizza order and delivery for a recent birthday party was anything but routine for a mom in Kingston, NY.

"Squished" Pizza Delivery in Kingston, NY

An Ulster County mom hosting a birthday party for her son over the weekend got a shocking surprise when the pizza she ordered for her son's birthday party showed up looking like this....

The mom, who we contacted to get the full story after seeing her post on Facebook told us that she ordered the "giant size" party pizza from Savona's Plaza Pizza over the weekend, and when it arrived at her home, she opened the box and couldn't believe what she was looking at.

She explained that once she noticed the pizza, which was part of a $90 order, was ruined, she called the pizza place immediately to see what her options would be and was told that she could save the pizza (not eat it) and they would send a replacement.

Look But Don't Eat?

The employee told her that it would take at least another 45 minutes for it to arrive, leaving the mom frustrated. She explained to the employee on the phone that she was hosting a party and had hungry kids and couldn’t wait another 45 minutes, so she declined.

The pizza shop then proceeded to offer her $10 off her next order, which she also thought was unfair, so she decided to share her story on Facebook.

Takes the Pizza Debate to Social Media

The mom shared the story above Monday morning in a group page on Facebook called Ulster Eateries Unfiltered, and within hours had hundreds of comments. Some people agreed with the mom that she deserved better treatment, while others said they didn't think it was such a big deal and told her to "get over it".

Soon after posting, the pizza place responded by leaving a comment saying,

"We are so terribly sorry this has happened. We would never allow a pizza or any of our foods, to go out looking like this. It appears that it was mishandled on the delivery. This is most definitely not your fault. We take great care and pride in our food and our business. We ALWAYS want to make sure our customers are happy."

The comment went on to say that the mom should expect a message from the owner of the pizza shop so they can "make this right". We reached out to Savona's Plaza Pizza on Facebook to see if we could get an update, and were told that they believe the owner had reached out to the mom directly.

To confirm that, we reached out to the mom again earlier today to see if the issues were taken care of, and she told us that she was promised a phone call 4 different times and it never came.
