PD: Hudson Valley Man Stole $4,500 From Dead New York Woman
A 36-year-old man from the Hudson Valley is accused of stealing 45-hundred dollars from a dead New York woman.
On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, New York State Police from the Ellenville Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested 36-year-old Thomas Mann from Clintondale, New York.
Ulster County Man Arrested For Forgery, More
The Ulster County man was charged with eight counts of second-degree forgery, eight counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, and one count of grand larceny in the third degree.
All of the charges are felonies, police say.
New York State Police Investigation Into Clintondale, New York Man
On March 10, 2022, New York State Police in Ellenville were notified of an alleged fraud case involving a checking account of a deceased individual.
The police investigation revealed that Mann located checks of the deceased and began to use them, police say.
What Mann Allegedly Used Checks For
Thomas Mann is accused of using the stolen checks to pay his bills and for his own personal use, according to New York State Police.
How Much Was Allegedly Stolen
Mann is accused of cashing at least eight checks that belonged to the deceased woman which defrauded the bank of $4,518, officials say.
Sent To Ulster County Jail
Thomas Man was arraigned in the Town of Rochester Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail.
His preliminary hearing with be decided by the Village of Ellenville Court.
