Update: Noon

A police officer was shot and others injured during an over seven-hour standoff with a man who barricaded himself inside a home in the Hudson Valley.

On Monday around 7:30 p.m., New York State Police responded to a home on Marlorville Road in the town of Wappinger following a 911 call about an unknown type of disturbance

Upon arrival, troopers found the caller, standing in the roadway stating the suspect, Christopher DeMilio, age 47, was inside with two children.

As Troopers approached the home, the suspect let the two children out the front door of the residence, then went back inside, police say. Troopers were able to secure the children from the residence and get to a safe location.

Once back in the home, the suspect fired multiple shots at patrols from a second-floor window, and then through the front door. One of the rounds grazed the arm of one of a New York State Police officer, according to New York State Police.

A perimeter was established around the home and State Police Crisis Negotiators arrived to start negotiations with the suspect. Negotiations continued for several hours with DeMilio allegedly continuing to fire rounds within the residence.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., DeMilio surrendered and was taken into custody by members of the State Police Special Operations Response Team.

DeMilio is charged with five counts of attempted murder, one count of criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon. DeMilio was arraigned before the town of Wappinger Court and remanded without bail to the Dutchess County Jail.

The Trooper grazed by a bullet was treated and released from Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. Two additional Troopers were treated and released for minor injuries, police say.
