New “Data” Uncovers The Worst Places To Live In New York State

A new study named the "worst places to live" in New York State, "according to data."

A new study has ranked the best and worst places to live across New York State, using everything from housing and jobs to crime and education.

Our friends at HomeSnacks recently analyzed the best places to live in New York State. The study analyzed home prices, schools, and above-average employment rates for the 162 places in New York with over 5,000 people.

Of course, when you create a list of the best, the research uncovers the worst.

"If you’re curious enough, here are the worst places to live in New York according to the data," HomeSnacks states.

The publication didn't provide statistics about why each hometown made its worst three list. But they are:

1) Albion: 5,506 residents
2) Elmira: 26,257 residents
3) Monticello: 7,297 residents

Criteria for the list included median home values; median income; population density; unemployment rate; commute time; crime; education levels; health insurance coverage; and poverty rates.
