Police are continuing to investigate after a man opened up the door of a moving car in Ulster County on Christmas Eve and “fell out.”

On Christmas Eve at around 1:15 a.m., members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office began in investigation into an incident that occurred in the Town of Gardiner.

A 911 call reported that a man was injured from a fall on Route 44/55 in the Town of Gardiner near Albany Post Road.

Police were told that the unnamed man opened the door of a car that was traveling over 40 miles per hour and “fell out” of the moving car.

The injured man was air-lifted to Westchester Medical Center to determine the extent of his injuries. His injuries have not been released.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Gardiner Fire Rescue.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation. We will update this story if and when move information is available.
