New York State Police from the Hudson Valley teamed up with the United State Marine Corps to donate toys to area children in need.

New York State Police from Troop K which patrols, Dutchess, Putnam, Columbia, and Westchester counties announced they collected and donated 619 toys for the annual United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign.

State Police donated toys themselves and also collected the gifts from local residents and businesses. The generosity of many Hudson Valley residents will help local children experience some joy this holiday season.

In a statement Troop K Major Robin H. Benziger said, “I am very inspired by the enthusiasm demonstrated by the community in supporting this year’s Toys for Tots campaign. We are grateful for the unprecedented amount of gifts we collected, which is the most we have ever received. Certainly the spirit of the holiday season is with us."

According to the Toys for Tots offical website, The primary goal is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
