Late Hudson Valley Police Chief To Be Honored With Bridge
A local bridge is going to be renamed in honor of a Hudson Valley Police Chief who recently lost his battle with cancer.
Next Monday, Ulster County will formerly name the bridge on Sawkill Road at Sawkill Ruby Road in honor of the late Chief Anthony Cruise. Cruise past away in December at the age of 48.
“We want to thank County Executive Michael Hein and his office, as well as all the County Legislators who supported this fitting tribute,” the Town of Ulster Police Department wrote on Facebook book. “Expect slight delays in the area during that time.”
Cruise was a 24 year veteran of the Ulster Police Department. He worked his way up the ranks from police officer, to detective, detective sergeant, lieutenant, and finally retiring as police chief.
Cruise began his law enforcement career in 1988 at the Ulster County Jail. He moved to the Town of Ulster Police Department in 1989. In 2012, he was promoted to chief.
“His passing will leave a void in the hearts of all those who knew him,” the Town of Ulster Police Department wrote on their Facebook page after Cruise passed away.
