Hudson Valley Woman Endangers Infant While Helping to Hide Man, Police say

A woman is accused of endangering a one-year-old during a fight with police while trying to hide a man from officers.

On Sunday around 10:15 p.m., the Ulster County Sheriff's Office responded to a dispute at a home on Glasco Turnpike in the Town of Saugerties.

Following an investigation, it was determined that 32-year-old Deidre R. Mayr was inside the home with 34-year-old Aaron S. Snyder, in violation of an Order of Protection, police say.

Mayr is accused of trying to stop deputies from finding Snyder and taking him into custody.

While Mayr was holding a one-year-old child, a brief struggle with police allegedly ensued. Mayer was subdued without any injuries, police say. Snyder was soon allegedly found hiding in a closet.

Mayr charged with the misdemeanors of hindering prosecution, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and conspiracy.

Snyder was charged with two-counts of criminal contempt, a felony.

Both were arraigned in the Town of Woodstock Justice Court. Mayr was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 secured bond. Snyder was remanded without bail.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Saugerties Police and the New York State Police.
