The entire Hudson Valley is in mourning after two Kingston High School students were tragically killed in a car crash Monday.

Tragedy struck early Monday morning after a car accident on Route 28 in the town of Shandaken claimed the lives of two Kingston High School students. Police haven't released the student's names yet or released any other details about the car crash as it's an active investigation. Police only said that they were investigating an accident that happened at approximately 8:07 a.m. Monday at the intersection in Mt. Tremper of Rt. 28 & Rt. 212.

Devastating Car Accident in Kingston, New York

Parents and students in the Kingston School District were made aware of the tragic accident after the school district Superintendent Paul Padalino posted a statement on the district's website saying,

"It is with a heavy heart that we reach out to inform you of a devastating automobile accident that occurred earlier today in Mt. Tremper, resulting in the loss of two Kingston High School students with another student being hospitalized. Our hearts ache as we process this tragic news, and our love and support go out to all those affected by this unimaginable loss. We recognize that events of this nature can evoke a range of emotions and may be especially challenging for our students, staff, and families to navigate."

Kingston Schools Offer Counseling for Students & Families

After news of the tragedy broke, the Kingston School district announced that they would offer students and their families help by activating the school's "Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team" according to the Daily Freeman. The CISM team is made up of "social workers, psychologists, nurses, counselors, and safety personnel that are trained to offer help to students, staff, and families in traumatic times." The high school said that the CISM team will be available in all buildings until further notice.
