Popular Hudson Valley Sports Personality Leaves Team After 28 Years
A familiar voice at games across the Hudson Valley for many years has announced he is no longer with a local team.
If you have ever spent an evening at Dutchess Stadium, (now called Heritage Financial Park) the odds are you've heard his voice over the public address system announcing game information and leading stadium fans through many different contests throughout a baseball game.
Rick Zolzer Leaves Hudson Valley Renegades
The "Zolz" as many know him has been entertaining fans of the Hudson Valley Renegades for 28 years and now it appears he is no longer with the organization according to a recent post on his Facebook page.
The post which came as a surprise to many explained that after 28 years with the organization and a willingness to "retire as a Renegade" Zolzer was no longer with the team saying "Unfortunately this is no longer an option."
At this time it's unclear why Zolzer has left the team but soon after he posted his announcement on Facebook many began to express their anger over the separation, with some saying they planned on boycotting the team moving forward.
Hudson Valley Renegade Boycott?
In response to a "boycott," Zolzer wrote that he hoped fans would continue to support the team saying,
"Please do not boycott the Renegades. Please continue to support them. They remain the single best family entertainment option EVER in the Hudson Valley so please continue to support the Gades."
We did reach out to Zolzer for more information but were told he had no comment at this time. He ended his post by saying,
"If you know me know that this is not my last stop. I am not retiring or giving up - Stay tuned for my next message in about 24 hours!!!!"

Games Within the Game
If you've never been to a Renegades game Zolzer was the guy behind the microphone at most home games being the voice explaining the rules of games in between innings like dizzy bat, bowling, musical chairs, and many more. Oftentimes he could be heard encouraging the contestants and cracking jokes while the games were being played. Zolzer rose through the ranks over his 28-year career with the team rising to Vice President before leaving.
