Historic Holiday Home Tours Across the Hudson Valley

The Hudson Valley is swimming in history and with that, locals and out of town visitors get to transport back in time at some of the most beautiful historic landmarks in the state.

During the holidays these historic sites dazzle in the lights of the holiday season. Clermont, Staatsburg, and other get in the spirit, decorate the grounds like they did years ago and offer tours and sometimes even through special holiday parties.

Staatsburg hosts A Gilded Age Christmas that gives guest an opportunity to really take in the lavish holiday decorations.

Sounds fun, right? 2 local historic homes are now up for the Best in the US.

2 Hudson Valley Homes Nominated for Best Holiday Historic Home Tour

It looks like 2 popular historic homes could be up for the top spot in holiday tours across the Nation.

You've hear about the USA Today 10Best List over the last few years. Every month there are new categories and they range from Best Small Towns to Best Pumpkin Patches (both have had Hudson Valley nominees and Top 10 finishers).

Now that the holidays are upon us they've busted out the 10Best lists for Best Holiday Historic Home Tour.

On the list of 20 nominees are 2 homes in the Hudson Valley.

Staatsburg State Historic Site in Staatsburg and Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown.

USA Today writes about Staatsburg "At the Staatsburg State Historic Site, guests can go back in time and experience the Gilded Age holiday season."

They add:

Visitors can stroll through the main floor of the Mills Mansion, which is filled with holiday decor and festive Christmas trees, as well as stop by the gift shop to do some holiday shopping.

For Lyndhurst USA Today explains why it received a nomination citing "This National Historic Landmark overlooking the Hudson River is worth a visit at any time, but come for a Holiday Classic tour and you'll get to see the mansion fitted with dozens of decorated Christmas trees."

You can vote daily for either location from now until December 4th on the 10Best USA Today website.
