A Hudson Valley man is in jail without bail over allegations he pulled out a knife at a local ShopRite and threatened another customer with the weapon.

On Friday, the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Kevin Nathaniel, 66, of Liberty after an investigation into a menacing incident.

Liberty police were called to the Liberty ShopRite following a report a man who pulled out a knife at another customer and threatened the man with the knife.

Following an investigation, police identified Nathaniel has the suspect. He’s accused of hiding the knife under a large storage container prior to police arriving, in an attempt to hide the weapon from police.

Nathaniel was arrested on scene and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, both felonies, and a misdemeanor for menacing.

Nathaniel was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
