Hudson Valley K9 Featured By New Yorker

A K9 from the Hudson Valley is being featured by the New Yorker.

Putnam County Sheriff's Office K9, Hannah, will be featured in the Nov. 11 issue of the New Yorker. The article is called, “Sit, Stay, Fight Cybercrime.”

Hannah, a yellow Labrador retriever, is one of 14 dogs who have been trained by Connecticut police to search for child pornography.

“Hannah is able to find G.P.S. trackers on cars and Bitcoin wallets,” her handler John Hyla told the New Yorker. “But most of my cases are child porn.”

Before joining the police force, Hannah was a dropout from the Guiding Eyes for the Blind school. It's unclear why she didn't complete her training.

Since graduating in March and joining the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Hannah has joined Hyla on over 12 missions.

"What a great way to learn more about Hannah, handled by Investigator Hyla," The Putnam County Sheriff's Office wrote on Facebook about the which goes into more detail about Hannah.

When not working, Hannah lives with Hyla and his family.
