A husband and wife were found dead in their Hudson Valley home. Here’s how you can help their children.

On Friday around 3:40 p.m., the Ulster County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the employer of 70-year-old Juan C. Ovsak who asked for a welfare check because Ovsak didn’t call or show up to work.

Deputies went to Ovsak’s home on Sage's Loop Road in the Town of Rochester and found Ovsak and Maritza E. Ovsak, 54, dead in their home.

Each appeared to have suffered one fatal gunshot wound. A preliminary investigation suggests no one else was involved in the incident, police say.

Maritza Ovsak worked as a bilingual domestic & sexual violence advocate supporting immigrant women in the Hudson Valley for the Worker Justice Center of New York.

“She was truly a ray of light and hope for all those whose lives she touched,” the Worker Justice Center of New York said in a Facebook post. We are utterly heartbroken by this tragedy.

Family of Woodstock started a GoFundMePage for Maritza to help pay for the funeral, travel expenses for her family and future college education of her daughter.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact this agency at 845-338-3640.
