Hudson Valley 7th Grader Wins MasterChef Junior

A Hudson Valley seventh-grader won MasterChef Junior and dedicated the win to his late dad.

Che Spiotta, 13, from Boiceville was named the winner Tuesday night in the series finale of season 7 of MasterChef Junior on Fox. The Onteora Middle School seventh-grader won over judges Gordon Ramsay, Christina Tosi and Aaron Sanchez over with a menu that included pan-seared Santa Barbara prawns and cuttlefish; a veal saltimbocca with potatoes; and a flourless chocolate cake, People reports.

Along with the title of being named MasterChef Junior, Che won $100,000, which he can't access until he turns 18. He says when he's older he hopes to own an Italian restaurant and would love to have his own TV cooking show.

Che has been cooking since the age of three and says his love for cooking comes from his late father, Jason Spiotta who passed away in August of 2015. Che says the dishes he made this season on MasterChef Junior were inspired by his dad.
