The Federal Bureau of Investigation released its 2016 crime reporting data for the country on Sept. 25. The report contains data compiled from more than 16,000 law enforcement agencies in the nation, including municipal, county and state police.

Violent crime statistics detail the number of murders, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults reported by an agency. We've listed the number of violent crimes municipal police departments in the Hudson Valley reported to the the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting program in 2016. Towns where policing responsibilities are handled by New York State Police and country sheriff's offices were not included in the table below.

The rate of violent crimes per 1,000 residents is also included in the dataset below.
