Horrific Fatal Crash Shuts Down 9W in Hudson Valley, New York
One person is dead and another seriously injured following a horrific deadly crash on Route 9W. As of this writing, parts of the road remain closed.

On Friday just before midnight, officers from the Clarkstown Police Department responded to the area of Lake Rd and Rt 9W in Congers, for reports of a one-vehicle accident with injuries.

Officers arriving on the scene discovered an overturned vehicle that had struck a utility pole. The vehicle was occupied by two adult men, who were both ejected.

The driver, a 35-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene by Rockland Paramedics.
The passenger, a 41-year-old man, was transported to Westchester Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries. He's listed in serious condition.

Route 9W from Lake Road (Congers) to Lake Road (Valley Cottage) was closed for most of Saturday as Orange & Rockland was repairing a utility pole that was destroyed as a result of the accident.
On Monday, the Clarkstown Police Department announced parts of 9W would be closed again Monday morning as police continue to investigate the fatal accident.

"Please find an alternate route of travel during this time," the Clarkstown Police Department stated on Monday.
