An Ellenville woman was recently arrested for drug possession. Police say at the time, she gave a fake name because she was a fugitive from justice in several states.

Amanda A. Conklin, 30, was charged with being a fugitive from the states of Virginia and Pennsylvania, 1st-degree falsifying business records, 2nd-degree criminal impersonation, 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and prescription medication outside of the original container.

On April 13, State Police conducted a traffic stop in the Village of Ellenville. Police say Conklin, who also goes by the name of Amanda A. Stockton, was found in possession of oxycodone pills and arrested. At the time of arrest she allegedly provided the name of a family member to conceal her true identity. She was released from custody on an appearance ticket.

Officials say it was later learned that she had used a false name. Conklin was located and arrested. Authorities say she is also wanted in the states of Virginia and Pennsylvania for theft and welfare fraud.

Conklin was arraigned in the Village of Ellenville Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail with no bail. She is due to back in court on April 19.
