On Monday, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro launched a new website. Molinaro made the announcement on social media telling people to sign up and join him on his next chapter.
"Sign up & join me on the next chapter: http://marcforus.com," he tweeted.
The announcement comes shortly after the Republican filed paperwork to run for congress.
Last week, Molinaro filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to become a candidate to represent New York's 19th Congressional District. It is currently represented by Democrat Antonio Delgado.
On Tuesday at 4 p.m. the Dutchess County was joined by supporters, elected officials, and community leaders as he officially announce his candidacy for the House of Representatives.
New York's 19th Congressional District covers much of the mid-Hudson Valley and the Catskills. It includes Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego and Schoharie counties as well as parts of Broome, Dutchess, Montgomery and Rensselaer counties.
Afghanistan veteran Kyle Van De Water recently unsuccessfully ran against Democratic Congressman Antonio Delgado to represent New York's 19th district.
Van De Water was planning to run again but pulled out of the race in late August. Tragically the 41-year-old was found dead in a Poughkeepsie cemetery in early September.
A GoFundMe was set up to help his four young children.
In 2018, Molinaro unsuccessfully ran for New York's governor. Andrew Cuomo edged Molinaro by nearly 22 points.
In 1994, at age 18, Molinaro was first elected to public office serving on the Village of Tivoli Board of Trustees.
Molinaro become Dutchess County’s seventh County Executive in November 2011. At 36, he took office as the youngest County Executive in county history. He was re-elected for a third term in 2019.
