Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright has announced the guilty plea entered by Solane Verraine, a 30-year-old resident of Phoenicia.

On Dec. 15, Verraine pleaded guilty to the Class C Felony charge of manslaughter in the second degree.

At her allocution before Judge Williams, the defendant admitted that she intentionally aided John Owings Jr. in committing suicide on Nov. 19, 2016.

The Ulster County Medical Examiner ruled that Owings died as the result of acute drug intoxication. At the time of his death, Owings and Verraine lived together.

Verraine is due to be sentenced on Feb. 21, 2018.
