It took three doses of Narcan to save the life of an unconscious and unresponsive 25-year-old in the Hudson Valley.

On Monday around 7:30 a.m., Saugerties police was dispatched by Ulster County 911 to 2735 Route 9W for an adult man who overdosed on an unknown substance.

Ulster County 911 reported that 25-year-old man was unconscious, unresponsive and CPR instructions were being given to the caller.

Ulster County 911 also reported that the caller had administered one dose of Narcan which was ineffective.

Saugerties police officers arrived and administered two more doses of Narcan, a drug proven to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. After the third dose, the unnamed man regained consciousness, officials say.

The man was transported by Diaz Ambulance to the Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Broadway Campus Hospital where he was further treated.
