
National Weather Service Issues Fire Spread Warning for Parts of New York
Normally, when we are telling you about a weather warning issued by the National Weather Service (NOAA), you are most likely thinking of a storm, but that is not the case over the next 24 hours.
Fire Spread Warning has been Issued by the National Weather Service
Instead of a storm warning, we are once again looking at a fire warning. The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement that extends today's fire spread warning into Thursday, April 17, 2025,, for the Hudson Valley and other parts of New York. The Upper Hudsn Valley, the Middle Hudson Valley, and the Catskill Region at under a fire warning.
The Plattekill Fire Department Sent Out Fire Spread Danger Information
The National Weather Service has issued an alert for an elevated fire risk for our area. Low humidity and strong winds are the equation that adds up to this increased fire spread danger.

All of New York State is currently under a burn ban until May 14th, 2025, which on days like this, is crucial. The smallest fire can quickly turn into something that can devastate. The National Weather Service is reminding everyone that the burn ban is in effect and today is not the day to be careless.

Ever since last fall when we had all the fires burning around New York, my family and I have been extra cautious. We have even held back on grilling outdoors some days because the ground is too dry and the winds are so gusty.
