Teenager Found Guilty in Violent Stabbing Death of Hudson Valley Teacher
A teenager was found guilty of fatally stabbing a man around 30 times in the man's Hudson Valley home.
In Rockland County court, a jury found 19-year-old Dylan Lentini of Vacaville, CA guilty of second-degree murder in the killing of Michael Wimbert of West Nyack.
Around 1:45 a.m. on Dec 1, 2015, Lentini violently attacked Wimbert in Wimbert’s Rockland County home. Lentini stabbing Wimbert around 30 times, resulting in his death, officials say.
"The defendant has been convicted of a violent and heinous crime," Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe stated. "This was an extremely brutal attack."
Heavy.com reports, Lentini met Wimbert, a teacher for special need students, through a Craigslist ad and was living in Wimbert’s West Nyack home. In court, the 19-year-old’s lawyer claimed that Lentini was sleeping when Wimbert tried to molest him.
Lentini has been held in the Rockland County Jail since his arrest.
Lentini faces 25 years to life in prison when he is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 29.
