Teen Knocked Unconscious Climbing Hudson Valley Waterfall

A teen was knocked unconscious and fell into a pool of water while trying to climb a waterfall in the Hudson Valley.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced on Tuesday that forest rangers rescued a 16-year-old YMCA camper who was hit by a falling rock while climbing a waterfall in the Town of Hunter.

Last Wednesday, the teen was knocked unconscious and fell into a pool of water in Greene County, officials say.

Rangers, local paramedics and ambulance personnel stabilized the 16-year-old in rescue equipment designed to move patients with head or spinal injuries.

It took an estimated five hours to bring the youth to a waiting ambulance for transportation to Columbia Memorial Hospital. The teen's name and condition weren't released.
