SUV Crashes into Hudson Valley Shopping Center
A Hudson Valley man told police his accelerator got stuck, causing him to drive into a shopping center.
On Tuesday at 12:19 p.m., Saugerties police responded to a reported accident at 1 Twin Maples Plaza. Officers were told a vehicle struck a building.
Arriving officers found a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee that struck the rear of the Twin Maples Plaza. The vehicle came to rest halfway into the unoccupied part of the building, police say.
The driver, a 63-year-old man from Saugerties, told police his car's accelerator got stuck as he was backing out of his driveway which caused the vehicle to shoot across Red Maple Road, drive over an earth embankment, hit a tree and then the building.
No injuries were reported. As of this writing, no charges have been filed, but Saugerties police are continuing the investigation.
