Popular Kingston Bookstore, Rough Draft, Relocating in 2027
Popular Kingston Bookstore Announces Closure...Sort Of
Rough Draft, a popular bookstore located in the heart of downtown Kingston at 82 John Street, took to social media this week to share an update with their loyal customers.
The 10-slide message begins with Rough Draft writing "you probably know we've had some serious issues with our building."
Many of these problems date several years back and not known by the public.

They go on to explain that over the years they've "worked hard" to make their own improvements and have ramped up their fixing efforts since this is the last year left on their lease.
As much as they love the building on John Street and the relationships they've built over the last 8 years, Rough Draft announced they will be leaving the historic location in 2027.

Thankfully, this announcement does not mean Rough Draft Bar + Books is closing for good.
They're just moving. Right around the corner actually, at Senate Garage. Rough Draft explains that the Senate Garage team will be "retiring from the wedding business" at the end of 2026.
This will give Rough Draft the opportunity to fill the space with "people, books, beverages, and conversation, and bring even more space to life."
While the Rough Draft family knowns that the building on John Street is part of what draws people to the business, they also "know that the people are really the heart and soul" of Rough Draft.
Rough Draft has a lot of work ahead of them, but they share that this summer, fall and holiday season will be the last in their current building.
