A Hudson Valley man accused of driving impaired allegedly crashed a stolen car in Orange County after a chase with police.

Last week, State Police from Middletown were told that a 2017 Nissan Altima stolen from a Dunkin' Donuts in Allentown, P.A. was likely in Orange County.

On Thursday, State Police patrolling Route 17M in the Town of Wallkill spotted the alleged stolen car.

Following a brief chase in the City of Middletown, the car was stopped after crashing into a City of Middletown police car, according to State Police.

The driver, 44-year-old John Render of Middletown, was treated at Orange Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. He was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies; and unlawfully fleeing a police officer, resisting arrest and driving while ability impaired by drugs, misdemeanors.

Render, an alleged parole absconder in New York State was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail.

A Middletown City police officer was also treated at Orange Regional Medical Center for minor injuries and released.
