A 3-month-old baby was in the same room when someone from the Hudson Valley overdosed and others did drugs, police say.

Recently State Police from Livingston responded to a reported drug overdose that occurred at the Berkshire Travel Lodge, located in the Town of Canaan. Chatham Rescue Squad had to administer several doses of Narcan to an unnamed victim.

After several doses of the drug, that reverses the effects of a heroin overdose, emergency personal were able to obtain a pulse from the victim.

As authorities investigated further, they say they found two other occupants in the room that used drugs while caring for a 3-month-old child. The baby was also in the room at the time of the overdose, official say.

Nicholas Palermo, 37, and 26-year-old Brittney L. McMullen both of Claverack, New York, were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

Columbia County Child Protective Services initiated an emergency removal of the child from the incident location.

An additional arrest is pending, police say.

Palermo and McMullen were both issued appearance tickets directing them to appear in the Town of Canaan Justice Court on Sept. 22.
