Officials believe a drug deal gone wrong led to one man dead and another charged with murder.

On Tuesday, City of Newburgh Police responded shots fired on Hasbrouck Street. Arriving officers found 31-year-old Hubert Hines of Newburgh dead from an apparent gunshot wound, police say.

City of Newburgh Police, with the assistance of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Police Major Crimes Unit, began an investigation which led to the arrest of 24-year-old Fabian Corley of the City of Newburgh

Corley was charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and various narcotics charges.

Authorities believe that the murder was due to a drug transaction robbery in which both a BB gun and a semi-automatic handgun were used.

Both weapons, several pounds of marijuana, several grams of cocaine, suboxone pills and drug packaging material were recovered by police.

The police investigation continues.
