NYSP: New York Man Kills 90-Year-Old Hudson Valley Woman in Home
A local man is behind bars accused of killing a 90-year-old woman in her Hudson Valley home.
On Monday around 7 p.m., New York State Police from Liberty responded to a 9-1-1 call for a possible homicide at 305 Harris Road in the town of Liberty.
Upon arrival, the troopers discovered the homeowner, 90-year-old Louisa S. Butler, deceased inside the residence.

As a result of the investigation, State Police charged 75-year-old James M. Brodie with murder in the second degree, a Class A Felony.

Police did not reveal how the investigation led to Brodie's arrest. Authorities also didn't detail a possible or motive or any relationship between the two.
Brodie was arraigned in the Town of Thompson Court by Town Justice Martin S. Miller and remanded to Sullivan County Jail with no bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 2, 2021.
The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police with the assistance of the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office.
