New York State Museum Introduces New Exhibit Just in Time For America's Birthday

Just in time for America's 250th birthday, the New York State Museum is introducing a new exhibit.

The exhibit is called Revolutionary New York and the NYS Museum explains "this exhibition places New York at the center of our nation’s founding story and its continued evolution."

The American War for Independence raged from 1775 to 1783, but the ideas of the American Revolution did not end there. From the Battles of Saratoga to the birth of the Women’s Suffrage Movement at Seneca Falls to the Stonewall Uprising in 1969, New York has remained at the heart of this continuing Revolution.

Revolutionary New York will open July 1st, 2026 and run through July 8th, 2029. Learn more nysm.nysed.gov.

Celebrate America's 250th Birthday Across New York State

As we head into the 4th of July weekend, there is no shortage of events to celebrate America's big 250th birthday.

Of course New York State is doing it big.

According to ILOVENY.com, there are events at historic sites, museums, attractions and battlefields will have something for everyone during the celebration.

In New York City, from July 3rd through the 9th, you can set sail on "the largest flee of the world's most magnificent tall ships and gray hull ships" into New York Harbor.

Here in the Hudson Valley from now until August 31st, guests can tour the Fortress West Point "that explores the River and the Rock narrative and West Point's role during the American Revolution."

Get Your America 250 NYS License Plate

There's no shortage of ways to celebrate America 250th. New York State is taking it a step further, this is where the DMV steps in.

The New York State DMV is now offering America 250 commemorative license plates.

You can get your commemorative plate at DMV.NY.GOV. It will cost you $60 for a plate with numbers assigned by the DMV followed by an annual renewal fee of $31.25.

If you want personalized plates, it'll cost you a bit more at $91.25 with a renewal fee of $62.50.
