Man Commits Suicide Inside Dutchess County Cemetery

A man was found dead inside a cemetery in the Village of Wappingers Falls.

Village of Wappingers Falls Mayor Matthew Alexander has confirmed that a gunshot wound killed an unidentified man inside his car while it was parked in the St Mary’s Cemetery in Wappingers Falls.

“My understanding is he’s from another Dutchess County municipality,” Alexander told Hudson Valley Post. Prior to the body being found, police were on the lookout after receiving a report of an armed individual after a incident in Dutchess County.   “I was driving down Route 9 and saw lots of police activity in the town of Poughkeepsie and it continued on into Wappingers Falls.”

Alexander said police used their K-9 unit to approach the vehicle where the body was found.  The man has not been identified.
