Missing Dog Located Safe After Crash
While emergency crews were focused on rescuing the trapped driver, many people online became concerned after reports surfaced that a dog involved in the crash had gone missing.
Thankfully, there's a happy ending.
In an update released after the crash, the Putnam County SPCA Dog Control Division confirmed that the dog had been safely located. According to a social media post, a Good Samaritan spotted the dog roaming on their property and reported it.
Officials credited the quick recovery to a team effort involving the resident who found the dog, a Putnam 911 dispatcher who connected information regarding reports of a dog involved in the crash, and New York State Police officers who helped identify the animal's owner.
"We are happy to report that the dog is safe and well," officials said.
Thankfully, this story ended with both drivers expected to recover and a beloved four-legged passenger reunited with its owner. Here are some more pictures from the scene.
