Favorite Scenic Road Reopens in New York Just in Time For Fall
Chances are if you have been driving long enough you have experienced a road you travel every day being disrupted or worse closed for a while. Lately, in the Hudosn Valley, there have been a few roads that constantly seem to be under construction. As of this past weekend, one of those roads is back in service.
There is nothing more frustrating than when your usual route has been detoured. Yes sometimes it is good because it gets you off the beaten path but honestly, it can also cause travel stress.
Route 218 Now Open Between Cornwall and West Point, New York
What if you can no longer reach your favorite coffee spot in the morning without backtracking? What if you end up on a road you typically try to avoid due to traffic and now there is even more traffic because everyone is now on a detour?
Fortunately, if you were one of the people having to go around because Route 218 between Cornwall and West Point was closed your detour has officially ended. This past weekend the New State Department of Transportation officially re-opened the road. They made the announcement official today with the cool video below.

Now if you enjoyed going on the lower road instead of Route 9W to travel between West Point and Cornwall you are back in business and speaking of that the businesses in the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson will be happy to see all of you commuters again for coffee, gas and whatever you want to stop for during your trip.

The new Painter's Tavern just re-opened maybe put that on the list for dinner on the way home. And for all you weekend leaf peepers this is one of the most scenic roads in the Hudson Valley that travels along the Hudson River. Put it on the fall driving list.
