Live Music in the Hudson Valley

I'm not sure if I'm showing my age or not but just 10 years ago live music fans like me had options when it came to deciding which live music shows we would be attending each year. There were various venues that would host shows year-round including the Chance and Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie.

The Chance is currently under construction and the MJN Convention Center is still hosting shows but it seems like they are few and far between, right? Does anyone else remember when the Hudson Valley was home to a couple of amazing music festivals? The ones that all of us would look forward to every year?

Hudson Valley Music Festivals

If you don't remember back in the 2010s the area was lucky enough to be home to two amazing festivals which both happened for a time at the same location at Hunter Mountain Resort in Hunter, New York. For country music fans there was the Taste of Country Music Festival (TOCF) which usually happened the 1st weekend of June and brought in some of the country's biggest names like Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, and many many more.

Unfortunately, TOCF ended its run in 2018 and later changed its name to the TrailBlazer Country Music and Camping Festival which held its 1st and only festival in 2020.

Mountain Jam

The other big festival was specifically for Hudson Valley rock fans and it went by the name "Mountain Jam Festival". It started back in 2005 and over the years became a multi-day festival held at Hunter Mountain, that was until 2019 when the festival moved to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, in Sullivan County, the original site of Woodstock 69.

Mountain Jam was canceled in 2020 due to COVID and since then many wondered if the festival would ever happen again.

It will take place at Belleayre Mountain, located at 181 Galli Curci Road in Highmount, NY.
