Someone in Orange County, NY is officially $4 million richer after claiming a huge Mega Millions prize from a ticket purchased in Newburgh.

Back in June, we learned that one of the Hudson Valley's luckiest places to play New York Lottery games had sold a winning ticket in a Mega Millions drawing. At the time, we didn't know who won the massive amount of money, but now, we know!

$4 Million Mega Millions Ticket Sold in Newburgh

The New York Lottery announced that Blue Pegasus Holdings Limited Liability Company (LLC) of New Windsor has claimed a $4,000,000 second prize from the June 9 Mega Millions drawing. The LLC matched all five of the first five numbers drawn but missed the Mega Ball.

The winning numbers were:

09 – 30 – 36 – 38 – 40
Mega Ball: 03

Normally, matching the first five numbers on a Mega Millions ticket would result in a $1 million second prize. However, this ticket had something extra going for it. A randomly generated 4X Multiplier was assigned to the ticket when it was purchased, quadrupling the standard $1 million prize to $4 million.

And yes, the winning ticket was purchased right here in the Hudson Valley.

Winner Takes Home More Than $2.6 Million

While the prize was $4 million, the LLC didn't receive the entire amount after taxes and required withholdings. According to the New York Lottery, Blue Pegasus Holdings received a single lump-sum payment of $2,604,001 after required withholdings.

Still not a bad day at the office, right?

If you're interested in possibly becoming the next Hudson Valley millionaire and want to give Mega Millions a try, it's pretty easy to play. Each Mega Millions game costs $5 and includes a built-in, randomly assigned multiplier of 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X for non-jackpot prizes. To play, pick five numbers from 1 to 70 and one number from 1 to 24 for the Mega Ball.

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
