A scary situation unfolded on Tuesday when multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a missing person call Tuesday morning at an area park when the call quickly went from missing person to rescue mission.

It all started at approximately 9:14 A.M. when the Bethlehem Police Department (BPD) received a report of a missing adult female who was last seen at the Henry Hudson Park at 162 Lyons Rd, Selkirk, NY. Officers quickly responded to the scene and located the vehicle that allegedly belonged to the 55-year-old female missing person according to the BPD Facebook page. Officers believed that she had left the car and entered the Hudson River for an unknown reason earlier in the morning.

Hudson River Search & Rescue

Multiple law enforcement agencies from the area including the New York State Police Aviation Unit, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit, Selkirk Fire Department, Coeymans Fire Department, and ENCON all responded to the scene to try and help locate the missing woman in the river. Agencies along with K9s searched for hours by land, boat, and helicopter to try and locate the woman, and thankfully after approximately two and half hours, she was located by the New York State Police Aviation unit.

The unidentified woman was pulled out on the Hudson River just north of Henry Hudson Park by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office around 11:33 A.M. She was conscious, alert, and talking to first responders when she arrived on the shore where Albany County Sheriff’s Office Paramedics treated her. After being evaluated and treated at the scene she was transported by Delmar-Bethlehem EMS to Albany Medical Center for further evaluation.
