Kids across the Hudson Valley could soon have a chance to appear in a brand new Netflix show filming right here in the area.

Over the last few years, the Hudson Valley has quickly become one of New York’s busiest filming hotspots with major movies and TV shows regularly shooting scenes throughout Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, and Putnam counties. Besides bringing money and business into local communities, it’s also creating opportunities for Hudson Valley residents looking to get involved in the entertainment industry.

Now, a new casting call is giving local kids a chance to step onto a real TV set.

Netflix Series ‘The Woods’ Casting Kids in Newburgh, NY

According to a casting notice shared by Roman Candle Casting, producers are currently searching for kids ages 6 through 16 to appear in summer camp scenes for the upcoming Netflix thriller The Woods.

The production is reportedly filming in several Hudson Valley locations, including Newburgh, Tuxedo Park, Harriman State Park in Southfields, and Forestburgh. According to the casting notice, all of the roles are non-speaking background parts, and no acting experience is required to apply.

The scenes are expected to feature a 1970s summer camp setting, meaning selected kids could find themselves surrounded by vintage camp gear, retro clothing, and classic 70s-style scenery while filming.

Paid Roles Available for Hudson Valley Kids

The production says all roles are paid with SAG-AFTRA members earning $224 for 8 hours, while non-union performers will receive $187 for 10 hours.

Parents should also know that filming days are expected to be full-day commitments. The notice explains that kids could be on set for 8 to 9 hours, depending on age, and filming schedules may include early morning call times, afternoon shoots, and evening filming if production runs late.
