Filming Brings Traffic ‘Holds’ in Beacon This Week
TV/Movie filming in the city of Beacon, New York will lead to "intermittent traffic holds" and limited parking along Main Street this week.
If you aren't interested in following the world of entertainment (TV & movies) you might not be aware that the Hudson Valley has quickly become a favorite filming destination for TV and film companies.
Huge Movies Have Filmed in the Hudson Valley
Since as far back as 1982 when the movie company that produced the movie "Tootsie" staring Dustin Hoffman selected portions of Ulster County, NY to be the backdrop for parts of the cross-dressing Academy Award-nominated flick the Hudson Valley has become a hotspot for TV and movies.
So hot that over the years it's possible to lose track of how many shows and movies have come into the area to film but according to the Hudson Valley Film Commission in 2023 the Hudson Valley was on the receiving end of an estimated $52 million in spending revenues from filming. Not bad considering there was a Hollywood strike for parts of the year.
Filming in Beacon, New York
Beacon, NY has become one of the area's most popular areas to film in all of the Hudson Valley. Last month we learned that film crews along with stars Tina Fey and Steve Carell would be in the area filming a new Netflix show called The Four Seasons, Filming started this month in sections of Orange County as well as in Beacon.
Traffic Detours in Beacon Due to Filming
According to the City of Beacon, filming will take place along portions of Main Street, as well as Churchill Street (10/23 only) beginning on Tuesday, October 15th, Friday the 18th, and Wednesday the 23rd. It's unclear what time filming will take place but it will require "intermittent traffic holds" along Main Street on Wednesday 10/23 for a few minutes at a time.
