A Hudson Valley teen and a 21-year-old are accused of stealing a car, stealing from storage sheds and a damaging property.
On Tuesday, 19-year-old Daniel O’Keefe of Middletown and 21-year-old Eric Wist of Port Jervis, were charged with grand larceny, criminal mischief, felonies, and criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. O’Keefe was also charged with an arrest warrant for a violation of probation.
Earlier that morning, a Port Jervis police officer discovered a damaged security fence and gate located at Advanced Recovery on Mechanic Street.
Officers further discovered that the pair unlawfully entered the fenced in storage property and stole a 2009 Ford Super Duty Mason Dump Truck, crashing the truck through the company’s security gate, police say.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Matamoras, P.A., by Eastern Pike Regional Police. Port Jervis Police Detectives were able to identify and arrest the two young men without incident in Port Jervis.
The group are also accused of stealing from commercial storage sheds located on West Main Street in Port Jervis.
Both were arraigned in Port Jervis City Court and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 bail pending further court appearances.
Port Jervis police thanked the public for being the “eyes and ears” for the case.
